There’s something calming about reflections. It lets us see the world from another angle. On my travels, I’ve come across many beautiful moments where water turned into a mirror—showing not just what was there, but something more quiet and poetic. Here, I’m sharing some of my favourite places where reflections made me pause, look twice, and see the beauty all over again.
In Florence, the reflection in the still waters of the Arno River creates a perfect mirror image. It’s like stepping into a painting.

Night time in Monaco, the harbour lights up. The reflections from the city shimmer across the water, turning the sea into a mix of gold and blue.

Burano is full of colour, and the canals reflect every bit of it. Bright houses and painted bridges create a rainbow on the water’s surface. It’s hard not to stop and stare.

In the gardens of Versailles, the pond is calm and still. It reflects the trees, the palace, and sky, adding to the peaceful beauty of the place. You can almost hear the history in the silence.

On the Rhine cruise, the mountains look like they’re leaning into the river. Their reflections are so clear in the water.

In Sydney, the Harbour Bridge stretches over the water like a giant shape. You can see its reflection right below, especially after the rain.

In Bristol, I spotted a mural reflected in a puddle—it was like street art doubled, one painted and one floating.

And close to home…
I always love seeing the blue skies and clouds reflected in our local wetlands. It’s like the sky is resting on the water.

I caught my reflection in a restaurant mirror—just a quiet moment, enjoying the beautiful shape of the mirror

In a local park, a bird bath catches a tiny reflection of the sky and nearby trees.

Such an enjoyably peaceful pst after last week’s storms.
Haha true Margaret. Such a turn around. Thanks a lot.
A lovely gallery Teresa
Thanks so much. Brian!
You are right about the peaceful quality of reflections. And I adore puddle pics – it needs such a combination of factors to pull them off: rain some time earlier, something to be reflected, a good angle …
I agree, sometimes it takes a long time to catch that great shot!
I love reflections, and you have a delightful collection, Teresa.
Thanks for commenting, Dan.
What a wonderful collection of reflections. I love the mural reflected in the puddle.
Thanks for the visit, Beth. I also love those accidental puddles.
You’re right, there is something calming about reflections 🙂 I enjoyed yours a lot, especially the bridge reflected in the puddle and your peaceful-looking wetlands!
Thanks glad you liked them, Sarah…as I did yours!
Beautiful, especially the “twin” murals one!
Haha twins indeed. Thanks PR.
There is so much to love about this reflective post Teresa. Most of all I like how your feeling of calm and joy came through in all your images and narrative. I especially liked your, “You can almost hear the history in the silence.” Once we snap our camera’s shutter, we are preserving history. Well done!
Thanks so much Anne. Loved hearing your thoughts and glad you liked it.
Wowwww. Really, really GOOD!
Thanks John!
The bird bath is an unexpected and wonderful reflection.
Thanks a lot Rebecca
Thanks Clay for stopping by my site. I hope that you will be over again in the future. Will rush over to your site now.
I jumped over to your site from Margaret’s Storms post. I’ve followed her for more than a decade. I love your photos and creative use of the reflections. You’ve been around, I suppose a bit, but we all have. I love the photo of Sydney’s Harbour Bridge! But all of the reflection photos.
Thanks so much for sending it again, Clay. ❤️❤️❤️
Some wonderful reflections Teresa, but I especially loved the mural in Bristol. A perfect example of a beautiful reflection.
Thanks Tina. Casually caught my eye and surprisingly beautiful.
Quite a collection, Teresa! I’m with Tina, I enjoyed that mural too, especially because most of us would just capture the mural itself and not the reflection. My favourite, however, is the last one.
Thanks Sofia. Glad you liked that mural reflection and the bird bath.
Love these – so peaceful. The bridge and the birdbath are my favourites, Teresa!
Thanks A-C glad to know your favourites.
