Precious Moments

“I want to take all our best moments, put them in a jar, and take them out like cookies and savor each one of them forever. – Crystal Woods

Time flies and there are occasions when I get myself to thinking, “If only I can freeze this moment.” There are some precious moments that I would like to relive over and over again. When I am sitting here by myself, these are the thoughts that make me smile or maybe put a tear in my eye.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the topic of Precious Moments for this week’s challenge is “family”… all wonderful and precious moments like:

When the kids were little and I was a stay at home mum. I spent most of my time with them, playing in the park, climbing the huge tree in front of our house, reading them stories.

And when Tim was already living in London and he came over for a visit, we had a few days away and we had such an amazing time just laughing and playing games.

“Memory is the diary we all carry about with us.” – Oscar Wilde

Our first trip as a family to Disneyland. I can still remember them vividly, funny, happy, tiring…Pat had all (and I mean all) the disney princesses sign her signature album and Tim pretending to be a cool teenager and not smiling in most of the photos (trying to make a statement that “I am too old for that kiddy stuff mum”)

“Leftovers in their less visible form are called memories. Stored in the refrigerator of the mind and the cupboard of the heart.” – Thomas Fuller

Special important moments are forever cherished like their university graduation!

“In these moments time stood still.”

And my son’s wedding was one big special moment!

And by family, I don’t only mean blood related. Living here in Australia, which is so far away from my birth home, I have found friends that are like family to me. We have been friends for as long as I can remember and they were all part of my recovery when i had my stroke 3 years ago. I celebrated my birthday in the hospital with most of them and that was very special.

“The beautiful thing about memories is that they are yours; whether they are good, bad, or indifferent. They belong to you, and no matter where you are now.” –Unkown

Beautiful memories Teresa, and your quotes this week are so perfect! We could erase every single thing from our lives but as long as our family remained (and perhaps our friends too) we could still be happy with our lives.
