“People don’t notice whether it’s WINTER or SUMMER when they’re HAPPY.” – Anton Chekhov
It was almost winter, the end of November … and it was the last time I was in London. I saw a lot of trees with naked bare branches looking like this and I found it a bit funny and weird and interesting all at the same time.
Later on did I find out that they are called London Plane Trees which are now a signature element of the city’s landscape. It uses an age old pruning technique that removes the growth of new shoots so they don’t mature to thicker branches.
interesting history! 🙂
True!
Such an apt quote! The fine branch ramifications gives the tree a unique appearance…
Thanks you for stopping by Archana!
This is so beautiful and unique Teresa. I don’t think I have seen this even in pictures from London. So glad you shared. Those fine branches against the buildings gives a lovely look the city’s landscape. Isn’t it?
Thanks for joining!
See you around on the 25th! Be well!
My pleasure. It’s nice sharing information that I have just found out as well. And those fine branches seem so delicate. Thanks Parul, will try searching for trees now.
It is interesting to know about Plane Trees. That’s a nice shot, Teresa!
