This week, Egídio hosts the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge with the topic of Music to My Eyes.
Let me take you down memory lane with songs about autumn rain and umbrellas –
“Autumn Leaves” has become a jazz standard and it is one of the most recorded songs by jazz musicians. My favourite version though is by Nat King Cole.
The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold
A singer that I so adored when I was in my teens haha (blushing), David Cassidy. Song is cheesy but oh well…
Walking in the Rain by David Cassidy was written by Cynthia Weil, Barry Mann and Phil Spector and was first recorded and released by The Ronettes in 1964.
Like walking in the rain (like walking in the rain)
And wishing on the stars (and wishing on the stars) up above
And being so in love
“Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
So I just did me some talkin’ to the sun
And I said I didn’t like the way he got things done
Sleepin’ on the job
Oh, raindrops are fallin’ on my head, they keep fallin’.
This is the newest song mentioned here. It is “Umbrella” which is a song by singer Rihanna, released worldwide on March 2007
When the sun shines, we shine together
Told you I’ll be here forever
Said I’ll always be your friend
Took an oath, I’ma stick it out to the end
Now that it’s raining more than ever
Know that we’ll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella
So many great songs over time, Teresa. I like your choices.
Thanks a lot Jo. Does it show you my age? 🤣🤣🤣
Yours and mine!
So good Teresa, great song choices 👍😀
Thanks Brian! Excited to see your entry for this. I am sure it will be fun!
I am thinking Teresa .🤔😁
A clever post and great response to the challenge.
Wonderful comment, Margaret… much appreciated!
Nice choices! This also reminds me of “Singing in the Rain “.
Oh that too haha.
Teresa, your song choices really jolted my memory. I love Nat King Cole’s “Autumn Leaves.” The same goes for Burt Bacharach & Hal David’s classic “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head. All songs and photos are so appropriate. Thanks for joining the challenge and playing these timeless tracks.
It is a fun challenge. Happy to join in!
I love that you kept your music to the raining umbrellas. Liove Rhiannas song, and I grew up singing Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head. And yes, another David Cassidy fan club member here. Great walk down memory lane and great photos.
Thanks Donna. It is sometimes hard to choose what direction to take in doing a challenge…there’s so many options. So having a theme makes me narrow it down.
Yes, I feel the same way. And sometimes it just matters what mood we are in.
True. Have a great week Donna!
Terrific response Teresa – I loved all of your umbrellas, both musical and visual!
Thanks Tina.
Outstanding response, photos, and song. Now where did I put that brolly?!
Haha
