Lucerne

“Visiting Lucerne is like going to Disneyland: You can’t imagine that it is real because it looks like a movie lot.” – Brad Thor

Switzerland was one of my dream destination since when I was younger … and this was all coming true now. So you can just imagine how excited we were…. Will it be a great and awesome place like I envisioned in my head or will it be a disappointment?

Below is our first view of Switzerland from the coach window. First stop was Lucerne.

The main town as we were walking the streets of Lucerne.

We went on a 1-hour Lake Lucerne Panoramic Cruise. From there we had an amazing view of the Swiss Alps from the water. Relaxing on the vessel while enjoying the forested hillsides, the green meadows and the mountain peaks.

After the lake cruise, we walked around the Old City and saw these gorgeous architecture of restaurants,  some have traditional frescoed designs and some have colourful murals on the building’s facade.

In the heart of the city of Lucerne here are some places to see from left to right:

The Lion Monument, or the Lion of Lucerne, is a rock relief in designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen.

The Kapellbrücke or Chapel Bridge is a covered wooden footbridge spanning the river Reusse diagonally and beside it is the water tower. It was September when we went and the bridge was covered with such lovely coloured flowers.

The next one is another wooden covered bridge and these have carvings and shows much of the history of the bridge.
