To long for something is to feel that deep pull toward what isn’t here yet—a mix of hope, desire, and maybe a little ache. It’s not always about big dreams; often, it’s the small, everyday things that make life feel whole.
This week, Egidio invites us to lean into the melancholic and the pensive, to notice the longings we carry with us.
Being in the same time zone as my son, just so we can be goofy together as a family.

The hugs of my kids—something I miss more than words can say.

The beauty of my motherland, the Philippines, and the peace of its quiet lakes.

Traveling and find myself waking up to a sunrise in a new country.

Watching the sun set slowly over a canal in another part of the world.

Slow mornings with no rush, where the rhythm of the waves can clear my mind like nothing else.

Longing keeps me looking forward. It reminds me that there’s always something out there—an experience, a moment, or even just a feeling—that’s worth waiting for.

A lovely post Teresa
Thanks so much Brian.
Lovely – heartwarming – happy
Nice thoughts. Thanks A-C.
I like the way you say that ‘Longing keeps me looking forward’ – so often we think of longing as a rather negative emotion, wanting something we don’t have, but you’re right, it can also be a positive one, giving us something to aim for!
Yes, longing makes me teary eyed sometimes. But in a good way.
🥰. We’re together with our older daughter and her family this weekend, so I know just the joy of which you speak. 😁
Nice and hope you had a good time with your daughter.
Teresa, how amazing this post is! Thanks for joining the challenge. I loved your photos and the longing examples. Nature and family are big part of that for you — and for me, too.
Thanks Egidio. Glad you felt the same way.
You captured the saudade-longing so beautifully; your country, your children…
Thanks Rebecca, glad to share my thoughts about the topic.
A lovely post with a lovely theme and photos 😊
Thanks a lot Eunice. ❤️
Great interpretation of the theme
Thanks so much, glad you think so.
I love your ending thoughts, Teresa! And your photos are beautiful, as always. Venice looks particularly unforgettable.
Thanks Sofia. I want to be hopeful.
