“People come and go, that’s life.” – unknown
There is a little grassy area behind the Victorian Arts Centre where the sculpture of Les Kossartz called Coming and Going can be found. It is a sculpture of six life size bronze sheep and five trap doors with a comedic approach.
Les Kossatz was a widely-acclaimed artist and sculptor who was well know for his sculptured sheep. He was a descendant of the Wendish Kossatz family from Lusatia in Germany and he died from cancer on 15 February 2011.

These are interesting sculptures!
It is a fun one. Thanks Aletta!
Poor sheep!!
Haha The shee is confused.
What strange minds some folk have! They’re beautifully wrought but I don’t think I like them 🙁
I think this is where you can say that Art is subjective.
They are very strange ..I wonder why he made them like this
I don’t know too but he is known for his sheep sculptures.
When I see sheep in a group kind of lined up I think of sleep. Maybe he meant it metaphorical? But in my head the jury is still out on whether I like this sculpture or not –
These has been in 2 different sites for 20 years, so somebody may have liked it. But maybe a lot don’t like it too. Thanks for your point of view.
This series makes me think. Like many I haven’t decided what I think. I am glad you shared these with the world.
I am sure it looks different from everyone’s point of view! Thanks for the comment 👍🏼
