Patti (P.A.Moed) is hosting the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge this week, with the theme of Finding beauty in unexpected places
This reminds us that wonder can emerge from anywhere. It challenges our perceptions, showing that even in the most ordinary settings, there are moments of inspiration waiting to be discovered.
It might be a flock of birds dancing atop a shimmering puddle, their reflections rippling as they play.
Or the charm of old windows in a cemetery, or a squirrel perched on a tombstone. I am also linking this to Monday Window Challenge being hosted this week by Brian.
It could be a vibrant mural in a Starbucks or an unexpected chandelier in a McDonald’s, showcasing how beauty can appear in the most unlikely spots.
Or a trompe l’oeil tucked away in a corner near LX Factory, transforming an ordinary space into an illusion of depth and creativity.
Looking down at an abandoned building unexpectedly brought me joy as I spotted vibrant street art, a striking red door, and weathered windows, each adding character to the scene.
How about some charming sardine cans, their colorful labels adding a playful touch to an otherwise everyday item.
All of these remind us that beauty can arise from the mundane, inviting us to find joy in the simplest of places.
These are wonderful, especially the building reflected in the shallow water with pigeons.
Glad you liked it VJ, that is my favourite as well.
Love the pigeons!
Thanks Marina, they’re a playful lot. There were supposed to be more but decided to fly away.
Oh these are excellent. Starting off so well with that puddle!
Oh another one for the good ol’ puddle. Thanks, glad you liked it Margaret.
Great photos for this prompt. The abandoned building murals!
Great for your like on that one. That was a pleasant surprise. Thanks Rebecca.
Love puddle photos and this is so cheerful, Teresa.
Yay, cheerful it is. The pigeons are just gorgeous. Thanks Jo ❤️
A+++ this week Teresa!! That puddle opener is spectacular! I loved all of your choices this week but that one really drew me in. Wonderful response for the week.
Thanks so much Tina. Votes for my puddle are encouraging. Haha Porto and surrounds is inspiring.
Teresa, what a joy to see these photos in your gallery. You found beauty in a lot of unexpected places, including Starbucks and McDonalds.
It caught me by surprise too! Thanks Egidio.
Hi Teresa. What a great collection! I recognize some of the images from Portugal (I think!). Your building shots (the header and the abandoned building) are really wonderful. I’m so glad you joined us.
Yes, for sure Patti, most of these are from Porto and Lisbon. Except for the cemetery which is from London. Thanks and have a great week.
I’ve seldom seen a puddle that beautiful. Thank you for sharing your view of the world
Thanks for the comment I. J.
I always find trompe l’oeil to be a fascinating art medium.
All of your choises are spectacular. The red door certainly
catches the eye. Super psot for the challenge, Teresa. BRAVO!!!
Isadora 😎
Thanks so much for your lovely comment Isadora…much appreciated. Same here, trompe l’oeil makes everything seem special.
Wonderful, wonderful post Teresa! The opener is stunning as we can still see where it was taken, the surprises at Starbucks and Mcdonalds, simply brilliant. I’ve just read about where you took them, I was guessing that it was all in Portugal but the cemetery ones. I think the country suits your creativity 😀
That is so true, I really do love Porto. Simple things turn into extraordinary 👍 Thanks Sofia.
This is a wonderful post, Teresa – I fell in love already with the first one, the puddle. Gorgeous.
Glad you liked it A-C, it was a great surprise to me as well.
