Doors from Ginza to Shibuya

We went from Ginza to Shibuya by train, and of course I was busy taking photos of the doors and every quirky little detail. Japan does this to you haha

I am linking this to Dan’s Thursday Door Challenge.

And of course Jack had to go through the doors of the famous Tower Records to buy a vinyl or 2 or more.

Simple designs on utility doors and wild colourful murals on garage doors.

Peeking through the small doors of tiny izakayas, you get a glimpse of Japan’s warmth tucked into the narrowest corners. These casual bars, known for drinks and small, shareable dishes are often no more than a compact room with a narrow hallway and a cosy counter lined with locals. Intimate, lively, and full of charm, they’re some of my favourite places to wander.

I can imagine your smiley face being welcome everywhere, Teresa. I would be very shy about looking into these tiny bars. I understand not many people speak English there and I wouldn’t have a clue what I wanted xx

There are photos of the food. So bad luck if the photos look good but is not yum. However almost everything we ate was so good!

These are great doors. You travel like I do, camera or phone at the ready. This all looks so fun.

You transported me back to Japan with those shots of the izakayas in particular!

  4. Coincidentally, I got back from a trip to Japan just two days ago. (Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Himeji, Hiroshima, and Nagoya.) It was my second time in Japan. I loved it. I hope you’re enjoying it there.

My husband and I loved it and we are back now in Melbourne. You went to more places than we did…but hoping to have another go in visiting it next time. Thanks Joel.

Japan is very much on my bucket list. Love the vibrancy in these pictures. Some great shutter art too. Great post.
