And just like that, it was already our last day in Hobart. We spent the morning driving up to Mount Wellington. Luckily it was a great sunny day with clear skies, so it offered us glimpses of the city below, nestled between the sparkling Derwent River and rolling hills.
Perched atop Mount Wellington, also known by its Indigenous name Kunanyi, stands a prominent television and radio transmission tower. Overlooking Hobart, Tasmania, this landmark is a testament to modern technology set against the backdrop of the mountain’s rugged, natural beauty. But frankly, I am not really a fan of this as it disturbs the natural beauty of the place.
Pat went up to the summit, the view was undoubtedly breathtaking, However I didn’t go up any further. The climb up were all made of boulders and rocks that I got afraid to make more damage to my knee
The crisp air bit at our cheeks as we took in the sweeping panorama of Hobart, its harbour, and the endless ocean beyond. Photos taken by Pat.
The rugged terrain of the mountain, dotted with boulders and windswept shrubs, felt like a world apart—peaceful, untamed, and awe-inspiring.
As we descended, Hobart came back into focus, but the mountain’s quiet majesty stayed with us.
We had time for a brief Malaysian cuisine lunch before heading off to the airport.
Seeing this view from the plane made it the perfect farewell to this enchanting city. Though the visit was brief, it left an indelible mark, promising a return someday.
I am linking this to Jo’s Monday Walk.
Beautiful photos and a fitting and to your stay. I remember it being bitterly cold at the top
We were lucky to enjoy a stretch of beautiful sunny days. It was a bit crisp, but definitely bearable. Thanks for commenting, Ali.
Wonderful views (although I agree the transmission tower is a bit of an eyesore!) I’ve enjoyed ‘visiting’ Hobart with you 🙂
Glad you did enjoy my walk.
Not just this walk – all of your Hobart posts 🙂
Thanks so much Sarah. Glad to know that. ❤️
I’ve heard such good things about Hobart, and you’ve made it seem like a great destination, Teresa. Thanks for sharing!
