Backlighting

This week’s Monochrome Madness host is Brian from Bushboy’s World with the theme of Backlighting

Monochrome and backlighting make a striking pair in photography. Stripped of colour, monochrome images rely on light, shadow, and contrast to tell a story—and that’s where backlighting shines.

When the light source is behind the subject, it creates glowing edges, silhouettes, and a sense of depth. Together, they bring out mood, drama, and emotion in the simplest of scenes.
