TRAVEL DIARY: MORNINGTON
It was a sunny weekend so hubby and I decided to go out and enjoy our Sunday. About half an hour drive to Mornington Walked around the main town.
And saw some stools and got envious of these cuties sitting on sun chairs.
Then it was lunch at Betty’s Burgers.
Heading away from the shops, we saw the Mornington & District Historical Society. This small museum houses the Old Mornington Post Office which has been in existence for 43 years.
Right in front of the museum is this sculpture of a girl in period dress posting a letter. This was to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the gazettal of Mornington township.
Walked the dirt road going to the beach.
Jack had the brilliant idea to start from the highest point instead of staying on level ground, and it turned out he was right—just look at the view from the top!
We walked down slowly to get to the beach.
Arrived at the beach and enjoyed a leisurely walk on the soft sand for a while.
As we arrived at the beach houses, I noticed there wasn’t much left here anymore. I recalled how vibrant and colourful they had been just a few years ago. I wonder if some were demolished due to wear and tear?
My husband had a bit of a snooze and I sketched for a few minutes under the shade.
Then it was time to leave.
Taking the back route and glimpsing the rear of the beach houses.
