Venice’s architecture has the most exquisite stonework but underneath those walls lie a great problem, it’s the destruction of brick by saltwater.

Intriguing ups, fantastic photos
Thanks Becky!
Venice, one way or another, is in serious trouble that will take real money to solve. Lovely atmospheric photos.
Thanks fr the lovely comment. And yes, they are really in trouble.
Such a shame for such a beautiful place 🙁 🙁
I know! Wondering what is gonna happen in the future.
These buildings would be in trouble sitting on dry land. I hope something can be done. Good photos, though.
Thanks. Yes I do hope so too in the earliest time possible.
Venice is old! beautiful but old. 🙂 🙂
So beautiful indeed. But I hope they can fix this.!
A nightmare to sort out I’m sure.. 😉
For sure. But it is still such an amazing place erosion and all. That is what gives it character.
Teresa, these are marvelous photos for this week’s urban erosion topic. I appreciate you playing along.
It’s my pleasure joining, Cee…great topics!
Excellent. How has it lasted at all.
I know! Thanks for the comment John!

I sure hope your week is off to terrific start.
Thanks Cee for the feature.
Poor Venice. So beautiful but so many problems. I keep reading how they’ve loved the break from tourism due to the pandemic, yet they need the tourists to be able to be able to survive. And the flooding . . . ! Anyway, I’ve never been and fear I’ll never get there, but would sure love to see it in person.
Yes, Geanie it is such a beautiful place. I just hope they can recover from all natural disasters.
We were only only one day in Venice while camping (in the 70ties) in Yugoslavia. So much to see.I can imagine that the water causes the decay of the houses.
At that time we lived in Holland, and pizzas were not part of common Dutch food, I think it was my first pizza ever, and I liked it:)
Yes, Venice is one of my favourites and just too bad that our tour didn’t let us stay there for longer. The texture and the architecture is at its best! 👍🏼
