“In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt
This wasn’t supposed to be my post for today’s SquareUp Challenge…but then I was moved by a fellow blogger’s view of anger, of doubt, of sadness and then with the Inauguration … finally being able to breathe a sigh of relief, of optimism and of hope for the American people. Thanks Paulie and wishing you all the best!
And because I haven’t been to the USA since 2005 when smart phones weren’t so much a thing yet, I looked at my backUP files and saw photos from my daughter’s business trip to America in 2019. She usually sends me photos to let me know she’s okay and to share her photos of doors, iconic places and streetarts (because she knows very well that those are my obsession). What a lovely daughter she is…. thanks Pat ❤️

And for Dan’s Thursday Doors Challenge, here are some that Pat saw in the town of Jersey City.
It was an emotional day in the States yesterday, for sure. I’ve read some very emotive pieces, Teresa. Hope all goes well for them now. 🙂 🙂
Yes, fingers crossed!
I like the look of Jersey City Teresa
Good you liked it, I haven’t been there.
what fabulous squares indeed, and perfect for what happened yesterday. Finally a sense of unity and light
Thanks Becky.
Gifted doors are always nice, and given that Bruce Springsteen performed at the inauguration party, Jersey Doors are totally appropriate.
Let’s hope we’ve opened a door to a new era here in the States.
Take care Teresa.
Let us all hope so, Dan. Thanks for the comment.
Jersey City is a town (rather than a neighborhood) in New Jersey just across the Hudson River from NYC.
Thanks for that, I made the correction now.
Nice set of images and here’s to a new beginning for the world. What happens in the USA affects us all.
Thanks for liking it.
Yes, I think a lot of us are watching what happens next in the US and wishing them a successful transition to a more stable and positive leadership 🙂
Yes, I know, watching from all over the world.
Nice! backups are always good…
Haha yes Rita…any back up is needed.
Teresa, I knew the world was looking at the the USA yesterday, but for me it was a sad day that someone who had stolen the votes of the people for his benefit., was inaugurated. I have faith that this is not yet the end.
Did not know you also had been to the USA:) It made me smile you have a daughter who also likes to travel. I have a son like that.
My 2 kids and actually the whole family is keen on travelling.
Nice of your daughter to send you some photos and nice of you to share them. 🙂
janet
My pleasure, Janet.
A cool collection of photos, Teresa. Hugs on the wing.
Thanks Teagan … sending hugs too!
I actually danced in my living room yesterday while watching the after party inauguration ceremonies. The black cloud has lifted. Cross fingers it stays gone. Great photos and I love the sense of neighbors.
Thanks Kathleen and good luck to all. ❤️ 🇺🇸
thank you T! for me this week was emotional but good one. i felt so much hope and assured of a better tomorrow. God bless all of us 🙂 🙂
thank you for sharing with us.
My pleasure to share Wi. Praying for a good future for all of us.
A cool collection of doors and windows, Teresa. Have a nice weekend! #ThursdayDoors
And to you too, Natalie!
Wonderful photos and great that your daughter shared them with you. One of my daughters sent me some too, as she knows we can’t travel too far these days
That is sweet of them isn’t it! And because my daughter is not the ‘calling’ sort of person, not like my son who is. She compensates by sending me text messages and photos. 😀
