Here we go again!?!

The new normal… it is the acceptance that this will happen again and again and we just have to get used to it.

This is Melbourne … by 11:59 tonight, we are back in Lockdown.

Acting Premier of Victoria announced that Victoria is to have a 7 day Circuit Breaker snap lockdown. (Fingers crossed 🤞 it stays just 7 days or less). There are now 34 active cases and the state is dealing with a “highly infectious strain of the virus” – the Indian variant – which is spreading about 5 times faster than any other strain that we have had before

We have had to date four lockdowns already. So don’t mind me if I make several heavy exhales…. and some swearing…. but this is what I feel while saying to myself, HERE WE GO AGAIN!

Yep! Been there, done that, got the tee, you know the rest. I’m afraid this is the new normal. Here in the UK we are just regaining some freedoms but some of us think it is too early and we’ll be back in lockdown in no time. Meanwhile, family visits in nearby countries are still a distant dream. So, get used to it.

    1. Teresa says:

But a lot of people have been vaccinated there, right? My son said he has scheduled his vaccination and he is 30 years old.

  5. You guys have been incredibly unlucky. My sympathies. Hang in there.

    1. Teresa says:

Thanks … we will try our best to hang in there.

  6. Kate says:

It’s hard to believe, isn’t it? After we had done so well and had so much freedom, especially compared to the rest of the world. We are experts now though, right? We can do this. Stay safe! ❤️

    1. Teresa says:

Yeah I know, we’ve done this 4 times. But the scary part is it is a different strain. You stay safe too! 🙏🏻

  7. Dora says:

Hard to take. Hope it ends soon, Teresa.

    1. Teresa says:

I know, Dora. After months of seemingly normal situations with us…nobody’s really safe from this virus! Be safe my friend!

  8. Ju-Lyn says:

It does seem like it will be recurring many more times before we are through. Singapore is also currently under a semi-lockdown: schools are closed and we are advised to work from home.

    1. Teresa says:

Always be safe and take care Ju-Lyn. ❤️

      1. Ju-Lyn says:

You too, Teresa! Hope you have a good week ahead.

  9. Be safe!

    1. Teresa says:

Thanks so much Aletta….I will try my best!

It must feel frustrating. But Australia has kept the virus in better control than most. Our state had almost 2000 cases and 20 deaths reported yesterday alone…and we’re opening up. Even though I am fully vaccinated I am reluctant to be around people much.

    1. Teresa says:

People here didn’t feel the urgency to have a vaccine until now. So many people are queuing when this happened. I will make an appointment soon. Be safe Mama!

  11. restlessjo says:

You’re not vaccinated yet? I had my second yesterday. I don’t expect it to stop the spread but hopefully it will help if I was unlucky enough to catch it. Still being fairly cautious here. Take care of yourself, Teresa!

    1. Teresa says:

The thing is we were Covid free for a long time so not many people, including me, wanted to be vaccinated…what with all the blood clotting issues going on. We were hoping for a better kind of vaccine. But now I guess we don’t have a choice anymore. Thanks for your comment, Jo.

      1. restlessjo says:

I have to admit, we weren’t at all keen, but living where we do it became a necessity if we wanted to see our kids. And actually, we don’t know anyone whose been adversely affected, other than flu-like symptoms, so far, and very few of those. Good luck, hon! 🙂 🙂

        1. Teresa says:

          Thanks…that’s good to hear!

  12. Oh I’m so sorry! That would be so difficult to deal with. I get my 2nd vaccine shot tomorrow. I kinda sorta feel like life is getting back to normal. It does seem that places are different all around the world. 🙁 Stay healthy Teresa 🙏🤗

    1. Teresa says:

Be safe my dear! And goodluck with the second jab tomorrow, Lisa!

  13. lily says:

Sorry to hear Teresa. Sending hugs. Waiting for a safer vaccine is important indeed. 🤗

  14. Yep. I wish I’d made more of an effort to drive to the beach or go camping in recent weeks while we still could. But the funny thing is, lockdown might at least make me go for more walks because it’s like once freedoms are taken away it feels more important to use what little freedom we still do have! My challenge is to turn off the ABC News and not read every single news alert that comes up on my phone and read a book instead.

    1. Teresa says:

Lucky that my husband and I went out and explored the city and the mountains during the past weekend. Because now, we can just stay home and relax and hope that the lockdown won’t last long.I am wishing that the following week I can go and visit my daughter who will be moving house this weekend.

Have a great week Szilvia! Be safe.

      1. Thank you Teresa. You too. At least they’ve acted a lot quicker this time compared to last year, so hopefully it won’t be too bad.

  15. Ugh. We’ve been in some combination of lockdown or shutdown for the past 6 months. Our public health measures aren’t super strict though and we’re still able to go outside. I can’t wait for this pandemic to be over as well. Stay safe.

    1. We’re still allowed to go outside, but limited to 2 hours a day for exercise, only one person per household can go to the shops and we’re not allowed to go further from home than 5kms (except for work that can’t be done from home, or if your nearest shop or your doctor etc are further away).

      1. Teresa says:

        whereabouts are you based Szilvia?

        1. Ballarat.

          1. Teresa says:

            Oh, Victoria! ❤️

    2. Teresa says:

It is strict here with us and people are mostly following rules here. That is why the more it gets frustrating because cases come from quarantine exposures.

  16. lolaWi says:

    oh no!!! take care.

    1. Teresa says:

Salamat Wi! Hopefully it gets to be controlled properly!
