Exploring Forest Glade Gardens

“And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles.” – Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

I previously posted the rebuilding of the Forest Glade Gardens, and now I’m excited to share a special walk my husband and I enjoyed there last May. I almost overlooked posting about it, but Anne-Christine’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge gave me a timely nudge. I’m also linking this post to Jo’s Monday Walk.

While I’d love to feature something from my own backyard—Melbourne’s winter has left it quite bare. For now, let’s begin our journey from the slopes of Mount Macedon in Victoria, Australia.

Our walk started from this side of the road.

***The area was crowded due to the last weekend of the Autumn Festival in the Macedon Ranges. With limited designated parking, we ended up parking in a spot where we thought was ok to park… but no, when we got back to the car, we received a $115 infringement notice stuck on the windshield. It was an expensive lesson for us.

Well enough of that and let’s begin strolling…

This beautifully landscaped garden spans fourteen acres and features four distinct themes. Instead of following the map, we chose to wander freely and simply enjoy the sights as they came.

Forest Glade is a historic private garden, nearly a century old, and is renowned as one of the most beautiful gardens in Australia. It blends various landscaping styles, having inspiration from English, Italian, and woodland traditions.

So many statues, fountains, bridges, amazing greenery.

The gardens are absolutely stunning with new things to see at every turn.

The garden also features a charming Japanese section that is a must-see and offers excellent photo opportunities.

We gradually made our way to the main lawn, where the stunning fountain awaited.

I couldn’t help but wonder how this arched walkway would transform in spring.

The sculptures are truly captivating, making Forest Glade a true paradise for both gardeners and photographers.

Finally, I couldn’t miss this photo opportunity before leaving.
