Today’s challenge is from Johnbo, the before and after of photo edits.
While I adore snapping photos, I often find myself hesitating to delve into the meticulous world of editing with dedicated software. My go-to approach involves minor tweaks on my phone, focusing on cropping and color adjustments to bring out the best in my shots. However, when it comes to my travel adventures, I often choose to forgo editing entirely, cherishing the memories captured in their purest form.
Here are some examples of my photos and my edits. Please click photo to enlarge.
I trimmed the image to eliminate unnecessary elements, and to counterbalance the overwhelming green tones, I put earthy hues for a more balanced composition.
Focussing on the subject and making the colours more vivid.
Increasing the contrast lends the landscape a sense of depth and dimension.
In this scene, my focal point is the water, so I prioritized enhancing its play of light and shadows. Additionally, I infused a touch of warmth into the sky to complement the serene ambiance of the setting.
Very nice edits, Teresa! Adding contrast can sometimes work magic.
It really does take it to the next level.
Excellent edits Teresa. Proof that small changes can make a big difference!
Great enhancements. Well done!
Thanks John.
Well done Teresa. I too am an editing refuser, but these small changes make such difference.
I like all your edits, they definitely enhance the images 🙂 As I keep almost all my originals as well as the edited versions I’m happy to fiddle with any of them, including travel shots, as I can always go back and look at the original should I feel the need!
I knew I replied to this a long time ago…byt it’s gone.
Yet another WordPress mess-up ☹️
These are great, Teresa! You’re a natural.
That’s a nice thing to say. Thanks so much Jo!
Brilliantly edited, Teresa! Many times so little is needed to make them pop.
I am with you, sometimes it is nice to just hold on to the memory. Your tweeks here definite brought out detail and color as you intended. Very nice Teresa.
Thanks a lot. Memory is the best capture.
Thanks so much A-C. This one just went to spam, sorry for the late response.
