A “Pause Button” Moment

“A photograph is the pause button on life.” Quote by Ty Holland

Through my wanderings, I’ve walked vibrant city streets, taken photos of hidden corners, and soaked in the rhythm of unfamiliar places. Every journey brings new stories, colours, and inspirations—each destination leaving its mark on my heart and mind.

With this drive-by photo along a winding road in the Highlands, I captured a solitary stone house, weathered by time and the elements. Its rugged walls stood strong against the wild landscape, whispering stories of the past. With its moss-covered roof, it felt like a quiet guardian of the hills—a place of solitude, resilience, and untold history.

I am linking this to Ann-Christine’s Lens Artists Photo Challenge – Only One Picture. This has been quite a challenge for me since I love sharing lots and lots of photos whenever I visit a place. But this shot is particularly memorable as it was my first time visiting Scotland back in 2016. My cousin, Rick, took us all around the Highlands, and this moment is especially dear because he is no longer with us. Anyway, great memories…

Great memories, and how important they are ! Our cameras help us remember, not only the beauty but also moments that will never come back. Well chosen picture and the story to go with it.
I have read so many wonderful and different stories now from this challenge – thank you! Even if it was difficult for most of us – we managed, and hopefully learned to collect our mind and memories in a single picture too. It is possible!

Memories make the best kind of picture, and aften of course they mean little to others. But you have made a lovely picture for us all to enjoy.

One of my favorite things about photography is the reminders they bring us of things we might otherwise forgotten. This is a lovely ode to times gone by with a special memory to go with it. A wonderful choice for the week.

  6. A beautiful cottage. I wonder what the view in the other direction is like…
